nu-electro: where robots and dance music collide

People write and ask me.. 'Why don't you have any house music past the year 2000?'

Well for one thing, I spent all of 2001 in a delerious chemotherapy daze and so I missed that whole year of music. As far am I'm concerned, it did not exist.

But more importantly, house music isn't as interesting now. I still love it but not with the passion reserved for things new. I feel more excited now to give you other kinds of contemporary electronic dance music.

'Electro' is now a word used to describe almost any kind of 'underground' electronic music, whether it be hiphop, house or even actual old-school inspired electro. Personally, I don't consider many of the new "electro"/"electroclash" acts, especially the ones out of Williamsburg, to actually be "electro" at all. So the term "electro" is getting to be a little watered down. Nevertheless, here we give you the best of these forms.. both electro in the original sense ("nu-electro") and the "electroclash" sense.

Nu -Electro:
'Sex with the Machines' by Anthony Rother
'In Bass, No One Can Hear You Scream' by Bass Junkie
'Break Dancing Electric Boogie' by West Street Mob
'Who Do You Love' by Little Computer People
'I Am' by Little Computer People
'Desire (g-g remix)' by GusGus
'Ignition' by Dynamix II
'Bass Generator' by Dynamix II
'System Overload' by Bass Junkie
'Satisfaction' by Benny Benassi
'Sterilization' by Dopplereffekt

And then there is this, the nu-electro song that I believe kickstarted the "electroclash" sound:
'Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass' by I-F

Electronic punk rock/hip-hop/synth-pop/"electroclash" etc:
'Glass Danse' by the Faint
'Skinlike' by Adult.
'Pressure Suit' by Adult.
'Hand to Phone' by Adult.
'Reconsideration' by Xavier
'Fuck the Pain Away' by Peaches
'Sex Machine' by My Robot Friend
'City Sounds' by My Robot Friend
'I Know What Women Want' by My Robot Friend

'The Splits' by Hungry Wives
'It's Over' by Hungry Wives
'So Futuristic' by Figurine
"Do I Look Like A Slut" by Avenue D
'Playgirl' by Ladytron
'Just What I Needed' by WIT
'It Kills' by WIT
'Cameltoe' by FannyPack
