My Christmas gift to you is a streaming version of a brilliant yet banned short film.

Many expect this film to be jokey and cynical due to its use of dolls in treatment of very serious subject matter, but it is never played for laughs. Not cheesy at all, the dolls manage to evoke more emotion from us than actors ever could. That the director sticks to the conventions of the disease-of-the-week tv movie is all the more brilliant. And on yet another level, the film almost single-handedly redeems its protagonist's artistry, illuminating within it a melancholy that had been dismissed for over a decade when this film was released in 1987.
