The House of Diabolique

As far as my health goes, the past few weeks have been grueling but I am halfway through my treatment as planned and am hanging in there as best I can. My next chemo starts on the 12th for 5 straight days, and then I have a short break before the final two sessions.

For lack of anything better to do, I was watching 'The View' at the hospital one day when hostess Star Jones remarked that she would not vote for an atheist for President. This smacked of religious bigotry to me and so I fired off an semi-delerious email to Miss Jones:

Dear Star:

Your religious bigotry is deeply offensive to me. You should know better, after all you're black. You hypocritically say that you do not judge atheists, and yet you DO - you judge them unworthy to be president, WHATEVER their qualifications.

Your 'logic' is deeply, deeply flawed. Atheist people are NOT less 'moral' than religious people.

I'd like to point out that many people who BELIEVE in God are responsible for acts of unspeakable violence - take the killings of abortion doctors in the 80's and 90's; take Timothy Mcveigh and his cohorts; how about the God-fearing fundamentalists of all religions who use terrorism to bring attention to their views?

There are no atheist terrorists are there? No atheist bombings of abortion clinics. No murders done in the name of atheism. And yet religious people and religious discrimination have been responsible for ALL of those things, many times.

This provoked a remarkably arrogant emailed response from Star:

You know how I feel...If you don't stand for something... Christ died for me, the least I can do is stand for him.

My opinions may not be popular, but I get to go home everyday secure in the fact that I have remained true to my personal beliefs and am thus continually blessed by God.

Star Jones

I responded by asking Star if she felt I was continually blessed by God for standing by my beliefs but I received no response, sassy or otherwise.

Our song this week is Sasha's trance masterpiece, the future classic:

'Xpander' by Sasha

Music is one of the few things that can still make me feel good these days.

until next time, remember..
when you dance, we are a part of what you feel.

I received this email after the Star Jones update:

Hi D-,
Its Ryze (The guy that emailed you a while back about God's love....thank you for including my letter in your archives...I was honored to be listed as one of the more intelligent pro-God letters).  I am so sorry to hear of your condition and I want you to know that I'll be praying for you even though you don't believe as I do that God is real and he does love us.  I don't believe in Atheists as you call your self I believe there are people who are angry at or mis-understand God but deep down I believe we all know about our creator.  I want to encourage you, my friend, as you have me with the music you provide in my life you taste is always on the money and really helps my mixes.
As for Star Jones.....I don't know that I would call any one with that much pride a "Christian".  She shows no love in her comments toward you and that is inherently "UN-Christian".  She is a legalistic woman, one of the ones that Christ came to speak against.  Legalistic meaning she is "religious" but not trying to be like Christ at all.  To call your self "Christian" is unfortunately a watered down thing these days but the truth of the matter is you are only a Christian if you follow ALL
of Christ's commands.  The work Christian is actually the word the Romans used to decipher believing Jews from unbelieving ones.  It is only in the Bible 3 times where as the word Disciple is there at least 300 times.  To be a Disciple means you want to walk the walk not just talk the talk as Miss Jones does.  She gossips, cuts people down and looks down on people UNLIKE Christ there for she is in sin like the rest of us.  Christ excepts people where they are and only wants us to change and "sin no more" or in other words ...."hurt God no more".  Christ is not arrogant and says out of all his commands Faith, Hope, & Love TO LOVE is the most important (Corinthians 13).  Miss Jones seems to not choose to follow these particular commands so she can thump her Bible as much as she wants but that doesn't make her a Christian (Disciple).
I love your heart D- as always and would love to study the Bible with you some day so you can at least know the truth about God before you write him off as nonexistent.  He's around you right now, never more than an arms reach away....talk to him ....he WILL answer.  I as a Disciple trying to follow the truth that I have seen apologize for Miss Jones that is not what Christ is like so please, PLEASE don't judge REAL Christians by her.
You are in my prayers, I love you as always, and keep your chin up, You'll be dancing in no time! :)...Ryze

Very thoughtful and of course it pleases me that a Christian (Disciple) would take issue with Miss Jones.
