| Join us as we thrust into house music... Week of April 4 04 Email of the week comes from Lorio: I couldn't agree more about Madonna. While there are songs on American Life I truly enjoy, her music has been robbed of all joy and I hold her current brainwashed state responsible. I actually think she might be insane.I don't disagree with you. What shocks me most (although it shouldn't) is how brainwashed her most rabid fans are too. Madonna started as an iconoclast; as one who questioned authority and who thumbed her nose at religious dogma. Presumably, then, her fans would share those beliefs; I know I did. That is what drew me to her. But her rabid fans don't share those beliefs, or else they wouldn't be buying her bullshit now. Madonna is attracted to the Kabbalah cult of comfort and her rabid fans are attracted to the Madonna cult of personality. Madonna no longer embodies iconoclasm. Instead of self-reliance, control, and independence, she exudes submission, self-deprecation and dependence. She is no longer in control. She in the control of others. Her Kabbalah teachers told her to write those children's books. She obeyed. Her Kabbalah teachers told her that all money from the books should go to them. She gave it to them. Her Kabbalah teachers told her to build a Kabbalah Centre in London. She did. Her favorite Kabbalah teacher complained of his meager home. She's buying him a mansion. Madonna is spending millions of dollars of her own money and all of her time trying to convert people to the Kabbalah Centre cult. Mel Gibson is doing the same for his backwards sect of Christianity. There is absolutely no difference between the two. A few weeks ago Liz, a member of Madonna's fan club ICON, wrote: I have a question for you, something you might want to investigate.I'm a member of ICON, Madonna's official fan club - at least I was until a few months ago. Recently, I've been getting mail from Kabbalah centers. They want me to come in for a free class to get me to join. Honey, I DO NOT ever sign up for any lists even remotely relating to religion or philosophy or anything of that nature. The only way I thought they could have gotten my name and address is from Madonna's fan club. Do you think it's possible? Isn't that illegal? And kind of cultish too - like, "Do you love Madonna? Then you must study Kabbalah." I might be off on this, but I thought you might be interested in finding out. Or maybe you know other ICON members who have gotten this Kabbalah dribble. Talk to you soon, Lizz ICON recently merged itself with the website MusicToday. I sent this email to them: I've received reports from some members of Madonna's fan club, ICON, that they are getting information from the Kabbalah Center sent to them. I checked your privacy policy, and although it says "we do not share mailing address, credit card, or any personally identifiable information (other than e-mail address) with other companies", it then goes on to say that if customers purchase tickets, enter a contest or even "request information", that you may send them information "about companies we choose".Since joining the fan club itself qualifies as a request for "information", can you confirm or deny that the Kabbalah Centre is sending information to Madonna fans through ICON? I received a response two days later: Hi D: I did have other questions. I asked Matt if it were possible that ICON gave out club members' private information before joining MusicToday. I received no response. I polled 32 ICON members. 18 of them joined ICON before MusicToday took over. Of those 18, 16 claim to have received Kabbalah Centre mailings. Of the 14 who joined ICON after MusicToday, just 1 claims to have received Kabbalah Centre mailings. Though not a scientific survey, this indicates a clear correlation. It appears that, before merging with MusicToday, Madonna's fan club ICON gave members' addresses to the Kabbalah Centre cult in order to foster recruitment. Attempts to confirm this with ICON or Warner Brothers have failed. None of my calls or emails were returned. Perhaps they are wary of the name Diabolique; I do not blame them. I can turn their bullshit into clean air any day. I attempted to circumvent by having someone else make contact using an alias, but they stonewalled her too. Obviously, if they didn't have anything to hide, they'd have gotten back to one of us. Any time I've written good things about Madonna, Warner Brothers has ignored me. Any time I've written critical things, they threaten me with lawsuits. 'Papa Don't Preach' by Madonna If you do not cease this conduct immediately, I
have been instructed to pursue legal action against you under both the Federal
copyright statutes as well as state common law. Moreover, as your conduct is
intentional and you have failed to comply with past warnings you will be subject
to punitive damages in the amount of $100,000.00 per infringement in any Federal
action we pursue.
I am also forwarding a copy of this e-mail to the RIAA and requesting their assistance in this matter as well. Very truly yours, Ruth Anne Taylor Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs of Warner Bros. Records Inc. Hmm. Other websites are somehow allowed to put up Madonna clips; they are not threatened with lawsuits. Is that because they aren't critical? I'm destitute from cancer bills and definitely couldn't match WB's high priced lawyers, so surely they'd beat me in a court of law. Since I'd be unable to pay any fines, would a prison sentence do instead? Wouldn't it be ironic if I were thrown into prison for criticizing Madonna? For speaking my mind? For thinking independently? Madonna's once impressive
lyrics mean nothing anymore. until next week,
