Join us as we thrust into house music... Week of July 26 04 This week you get the real deal: a super-rare tape-recording of Laurie Anderson performing live for Minnesota college radio in 1981. In this performance Anderson actually explains how she came up with 'O Superman' and then performs it live - brilliant! This is surely a treasure for anyone into electronic music. I am thrilled to give it to you now. Hooray for the internet.. and hooray for the HoD. Laurie Anderson Live - Minnesota college radio 1981 (56k, mp3) (Right click to save the mp3 version. And if you're impatient.. the live 'O Superman' is almost an hour into it, past all the arty stuff. Incidentally, 'O Superman' is also the song I chose to commemorate my cancer year, 2001.) If you don't know 'O, Superman', it is only one of the great electronic compositions of the 20th century; and one of the most minimally and maximally emotional songs ever recorded. until next week,
